A lyric poster for one of my Graphic Design class.We were given the freedom to choose any OPM (Original Pinoy Music) song and make a lyric poster for it.
It's a struggle for every artist to visually tell the story with just a glance or at least for the audience to 'get it' in first try. And that was the challenge posed for us by our professor.
The story of the song is basically about childhood friends who got separated without even having the chance to tell their feelings for each other. As they grow up, they reminisce the time they spent together and wonder about each other.
The chorus part of the song are on the shirts of the characters and the wave of lyrics behind them. This is the english translation:
Weren't you the queen, and I, your king?
I was the princess you always saved.
But now you're far and it's impossible to happen
My feelings ...
Ohh, just a whisper to the wind (just whisper) ...
Only a dream, too
Just like... then.
(Notice how the shadows (them as kids) are still holding hands while in the present, they're not?)
I chose the 'story book' treatment for the characters because I like to think of them as 'cutouts' from a storybook. Like once, they were 'in' the story but now, they're not. They have woken up and realized that maybe, what's then will stay as it is and will always be just a sweet memory to remember.
